Things just never get better for the xenomorphs, more…

When I was a wee computer user and the internet was barely beyond the Geocities stage, Doom 2 was the closest thing to an Aliens game you could play… unless you had one of those fancy-schmancy “modem” things and could download the Aliens TC Mod (and get it to work properly). Since then, everyone’s been waiting for the perfect Aliens game, which looks like it should be a no-brainer to make. Apparently, that game is not the recently-released Colonial Marines. Maybe someone out there can mod it into being decent, but from what I’m reading and seeing on YouTube, the awful A.I. is really astonishing. But at least the art and assets are out there for some clever person to re-configure into something playable, right about when it hits five bucks during a sale, right?
Until then, here’s some other things:
• A woman in New Zealand passed away due to a habit of drinking mass quantities of Coca-Cola on a daily basis. I’m trying to think of anything I’d be willing to ingest at the rate of about 2 and a half gallons a day without giving me superpowers. It would stink if being able to drink 2.5 gallons of something was my superpower, however.
• I’ve stayed away from the purportedly-addictive game FTL, but I still like this collection of proposed Lego toys based on the concept. I understand that the crews in the game don’t live very long, so making them out of reusable pieces is probably fitting.
• Now here’s a game that doesn’t disappoint as the top article has: Band of Heroes combines RPG elements and upgrades to squadron-based vertical scrollers (what we used to call “Tac-Scan”). Just go with the idea that this fantasy world consists of nothing but straight-line corridors and it’s pretty fun.

Apparently, the reviewer and I were playing different games because I haven’t noticed near the number of glitches he complains about in Aliens, nor the problems with the AI, any dated looking graphics that weren’t directly adapted from the source material…
IMHO, no need to look further than “Alien Swarm” on Steam
