It looks like the new Grandpa Munster will be played by Eddie Izzard, so now I have to at least watch the pilot episode. I think his performance will hinge largely on the director, as Izzard has been a bit hit-or-miss for me when he’s not doing standup. He does “chummy” and “scheming” well, which I guess works for Grandpa. It’s when he has to do something morally questionable that he starts to lose believability for me as he doesn’t change an awful lot. His “I’m a villain voice” sounds a lot like his “this is my villain voice for someone who’s not Darth Vader or James Mason.”

Then again, if Johnny Depp is playing a Tim Burton vampire, I don’t think Eddie can do anything that’ll seem too off-the-wall by comparison.
